Ghosts and paranormal activities

Hello!…

Ghostflow

Ghostflow

Do you believe in ghosts, demons, poltergeist and paranormal activities? If you do not, you would better begin! Few weeks ago, I have found a very interesting and strange site just about this. There are many unusual stories you are able to find. Here is the link: http://www.ghosttheory.com

Some minutes later when I found this, I started to watch scary videos what I suppose, were true…

And, if you easily get scared, leave this page now!

I am going to tell you a story, what happened to me few months ago.  The story begins on a normal Tuesday evening. I was preparing for a chemics test, while, of course, I was on facebook, and eating my dinner. It was thus boring, but I knew I had to, because my grades are quite important to me, just like to my mum and dad. But after 3 hours of steady chemistry, I felt exhausted and a grave need to rest my tired eyes. Therefore I went to sleep. At about half past 3, I woke up, because I had to go to toilet. But it was a mistake to wake… Suddenly I heard very fast steps, coming from the kitchen, “running” through my room and entering my parents’ room. I got extremely shocked. The worst part was, when it came back! It came out of their room, back to mine, then exiting through the kitchen. I wanted to shout, but I couldn’t! I could only lay in my bed, and say nothing…  And I was not dreaming because it happened after I climbed back to my bed. I’m sure, it was a ghost or maybe a demon.

And so, here is a little game for you, dear readers… ;)

English Evening

May23

This event started at half past two p.m. . In the beginning there were some students who told English poems.

After this competition some classes, including our little group, acted out their plays . Our performance was the third. We were so excted. It was just like CSI Miami but it was CSI Budapest by 9a. Then we listened to a lecture about the history of the Irish nation and Ireland by an old Madách student.

It was a bit boring because “unfortunately” we didn’t hear anything.  Perhaps  it was interesting :D When this man finished his presentation an famous Irish band came to our lovely school. They played some songs and a bit later they invited us to dance. They taught us Irish dances. It was funny and we had a great time. Our teacher brought her daughter, she is a toddler and her name is Sophie. She is an absolutely cute little girl. Sophie gave Charlotte and also her bag :) a kiss  At the end of this evening we ate plenty of cakes and biscuits and we drank tea.

The best cookie was Pali’s. He made a chocolate cake.

Eurovision Song Contest

May23

In this post we are writing about this amazing competition. It started on the 10th May until the 14th. It was in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The first Song Contest was in 1956. It has been held since then as an europian tradition. There were only fourteen songs sang. The winner was Swedish.

This year te winner was Azerbaijan with Running Scared. Our competitor was Wolf Kati. She sang her own song called ,,What about my dreams?”  in Hungarian ,,Szerelem, miért múlsz?”

We choose this topic because of we think it is important to see other countries tastes. We love music and all of us have their favourite countries. These are our opinions.

Betti: I liked the Portugnese team, because I like these joyful and “crazy” thing they performed.

Niki: I enjoy listening to music, and I think it brigs countries closer to each other with votes and words of support. I have no favourite country/music, I like them, but I think my favourite will always be my home -> Hungary :)

Mesi: I think it was a very taff competition. My favourite song is by the letvians. Wolf Kati was very good, but I think the song is better in Hungarian. The thing that I didn’t like is the countries were not together.

And the winner…. is.:
Azerbaijan!

The Lord of the Rings

April21

One Ring to rule them all,

One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them,

In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

The Dark Lord
The Dark Lord

One of the most famous fantasy novel and movie in the world. Everyone knows about the fate of Middle Earth, the epic quest of Frodo and Samuel to take the one Ring back to the fires of Mount Doom. About the great evil Sauron, willing to destroy the peaceful nations, the Elves, the Dwarves and the Race of Men. And of course their only hope is the destruction of the One Ring. There are even games made after the story, like The Battle for Middle-Earth, and the Lord of the Rings Online. Today I would like to talk about that game. :)

Elvish female ChampionEpic MMORPG: The Lord of the Rings online

This game is about the smaller battles of Gondor, Rohan and Angmar. At first when you login, you get to choose from 4 races, Elves, Dwarves, Men and Hobbits, and 7 classes (Hunter, Champion, Captain, Bard, etc.). Then, by completing quests, killing evil monsters and helping protect the villages and cities, you can become a real hero of Middle-Earth. It is a fun game, with lots and lots of missions, awesome graphics, many choices to master useful proffesions, lands never seen in the movie and much more interesting options to find out for yourself. ;) You can go through the story of the movie also, you will even meet some famous characters, like Gandalf, Aragorn, Frodo. It is a great game, everyone should give it a try. It has only one problem: it has a giant client, 20GB-s.

Arts in Future

February11

In our world, when a lot of gadgets help our everyday life, there is no chance for that the tools that are used in Arts will be the same in the future.
Nowdays,  when the biggest and most successful computer company is Apple, many people own iPhones.

Other applications can be found on the following website:

Future Travelling

February11

 Driveless cabs:

These are computer-controlled cabins, what you can travel  with very fast where you want to go.

Driverless cabs (pic courtesy of ULTra)
Computer-controlled driverless cabs could soon be in Cardiff

A ticket’s price will be equal with a today’s bus fare. It will be more safer than cars, because it will run on rail, like the tram.

We won’t have to wait for a long time to use the cabs. It will has stations, and we will have to use pre-paid cards.

It will use 75% less energy than a car.

Will it happen?

There’s a good chance it will. Testing has taken place in Cardiff.

The downsides

Persuading investors and politicians to back the scheme. The possibility of vandalism against the cabs.

magnetically levitated trains:

Trains using “Maglev” technology will zip between cities at 260mph – twice the maximum speed British passengers are accustomed to.

The system uses a combination of magnetic attraction and repulsion for lift and forward movement on specially built tracks.

In effect the trains float on an electromagnetic cushion, which minimises friction.

Because journey times are significantly shorter, people will be encouraged to leave their cars at home.

Will it happen?

The first commercial Maglev train line is already in operation between Shanghai city centre and Pudong airport.

The technology was invented in Britain and a Maglev shuttle was actually built between Birmingham International Airport and the nearby railway terminal.

But it was abandoned in 1995 because it was unreliable.

The downsides

The costs. Chinese authorities were forced to abandon a Maglev line between Shanghai and Beijing because of the phenomenal price tag attached to the project.

High-speed trains already in use in Japan and Europe can travel nearly as fast as maglev trains, but on standard tracks.

Jet packs:

James Bond used a jet pack to escape a French chateau after killing his enemy Jacques Boiter in Thunderball.

Jet pack travel
The idea of jet packs has been around for years

The idea was also a hit when a stuntman flew around on one during the opening ceremony of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

You will be able to use the device – roughly the size of two scuba tanks strapped to your back – on short journeys. Perhaps for going to the shops.

They will be handy for retrieving cats from trees, cleaning hard-to-reach windows and arriving in style at a party.

Will it happen?

It’s looking increasingly unlikely – despite the fact we have already seen early prototypes in action.

It remains difficult to build a cheap, reliable version which has a practical use.

The downsides

“Lots of people set their pants on fire and went off in funny directions when they tried them out,” says Austin Williams of the independent Transport Research Group.

And there’s always the issue of whether you really need one.

Robots

February11

Where the robots came from?

As mechanical means of performing functions were discovered, and mechanics and complex mechanisms were developed, the need for human labour was reduced. Machinery was used for lifting water, grinding grain and something like this. With technological advances more complex machines were slowly developed. In the second half of the second millennium man began to develop more inteligent machines as well as rediscovering the Greek engineering methods. And electronics now became the driving force of development instead of mechanics with the advent of the first electronic autonomous robots created by William Grey Walter in Bristol, England in 1948.

The idea to create robots as inteligent as the human was sparked interest in people. So they try to find more chance to develop it. That’s why now we can find several type of robots such as household robots, robot animals, human robots and so on.

Here is an example: a mechanical tiger

This is Sheva, a walking mechanical tiger built by Kezanti, a Belgian artist.

What it’s used for:

Like most of these robots, it’s an art project. However, unlike most of these robots, Kezanti is at least awesome enough to ride it around town, albeit very, very slowly. Although, honestly, what’s the hurry? You already have a robot tiger mount; you ain’t got shit else that needs doing.

Robots are very useful in medicine. Nowadays there are very sophisticated mechanic limbs. luke-bionic-arm-prosthetic

For example with the new bionic arms you can make about 15 moves and they’re connected with your brain.

Now they’re in test mode but maybe in the future every disabled people will be able to live with these bionic limbs.

Scientists are working on giving the blind the ability to see.  You can read a lot about this topic here!bioniceye404_663868c

Foundation series

Foundation Series

by Isaac Asimov

We decided that in this post we will show you some books in sci-fi topic. Our chosen books are the Foundation series by the well-known author Isaac Asimov.  There are seven novels in the Foundation series: Prelude to Foundation, Forward the Foundation, Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation, Foundation’s Edge, and Foundation and Earth.

The Story

The premise of the series is that mathematician Hari Seldon spent his life developing a branch of mathematics known as psychohistory, a concept of mathematical sociology. Using the law of mass action, it can predict the future, but only on a large scale; it is error-prone on a small scale. It works on the principle that the behaviour of a mass of people is predictable if the quantity of this mass is very large. Using these techniques, Seldon foresees the imminent fall of the Galactic Empire, which encompasses the entire Milky Way, and a dark age lasting thirty thousand years before a second great empire arises. Seldon’s psychohistory also foresees an alternative where the intermittent period will only last one thousand years. To ensure Seldon’s vision of a second great Empire comes to fruition, Seldon creates two Foundations. The focus of the series is on the First Foundation and its attempts to overcome various obstacles during the formation and installation of the Second Empire, all the while being silently guided by the unknown specifics of The Seldon Plan.

Major Characters

  • Hari Seldon, leader of the Psychohistorical movement which creates the Foundation and the Seldon Plan.
  • R. Giskard Reventlov, the first robot able to alter human minds.
  • R. Daneel Olivaw, a humanoid robot who organizes the creation of both the Seldon Plan and Gaia and Galaxia.
  • Dors Venabili, Seldon’s wife and protector, known as the “Tiger Woman” for her physical prowess and swiftness to action. She is eventually revealed to be a humanoid robot like Daneel.

Film

By 1998, New Line Cinema had spent $1.5 million developing a film version of the Foundation Trilogy. The failure to develop a new franchise was partly a reason the studio signed on to produce The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. On July 29, 2008, it was reported that former New Line Cinema co-founders Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne have been signed on to produce an adaptation of the trilogy by their company Unique Pictures for Warner Brothers. This follows a period of time where the project had been under development at 20th Century Fox. However, Columbia Pictures (Sony) successfully bid for the screen rights on January 15, 2009, and then contracted Roland Emmerich for direction. Emmerich and Michael Wimer were named as producers. There was no development of the film during 2009–2010.

Travelling in the future

February11

We were thinking about this topic a lot, here are some of our speculations in connenction with travelling in the future.

First we would like to share our thoughts about the new airports and railway stations. We think (actually hope) that hundreds of new airports and railway stations will be built, for example in the middle of Africa or in Asia, so we’ll be able to travel there easier than we can nowdays. Probably they’ll be more modern and they will be cleaner, especially the bathrooms, because it’s very important according to our opinion. Of course the airplanes and the trains will be more modern and bigger, and they won’t pollute the environment very much.

Our second idea is that tourists will be able to visit the space for less money than nowdays, so more of us will be able to afford this incredible journey.

Here are some pictures about space travel and travelling in the future.
